It’s possible that our coffee maker doesn’t like us. Lately it has been pushing grounds into the finished product. It’s like drinking flavored potting soil. “Today we are serving a premium blend from Home Depot.” It kind of ruins the morning when your coffee triggers repeated spitting. You don’t see that kind of thing in the commercials. “The best part of waking up is . . . Pffft. Pffft. Pffft.”
Maybe the coffee maker saw us walk in the other day with those cups from Dunkin’ Donuts. Or maybe this is its first step in an attempt to unionize the kitchen appliances. Either way, this week our coffee has been the beverage you can eat with a fork. “On sale this week: Folgers Chunky Style.”
